Alexandra Modiri, MD

Dr. Alexandra Modiri completed her internal medicine residency at Temple University Hospital. She then completed a fellowship in gastroenterology at the Medical College of Wisconsin. She is board certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology. In addition. Dr. Modiri is also specialized in obesity medicine and practices medical weight loss.

Dr. Modiri has authored several manuscripts in prestigious journals such as the New England Journal of Medicine and Science. She has also presented numerous abstracts and an oral presentation at national meetings. She has been involved in clinical research in the areas of colon cancer screening, inflammatory bowel disease, esophageal cancer, deep balloon enteroscopy and gallstone pancreatitis.

 

Dr. Modiri is an expert in colonoscopy to diagnose and prevent colon cancer. She specializes in management of inflammatory bowel disease along with gastrointestinal health and wellness.

Dr. Modiri obtained her undergraduate education at the University of Maryland. She then attended the George Washington University School of Medicine in Washington, DC. She is a member of the American Gastroenterological Association and the American Medical Association.

Dr. Modiri grew up in Washington D.C. and has lived in both Northern Virginia and Maryland. She is fluent in French and an avid tennis player.

Kian Makipour, MD, MS

​

Kian Makipour MD, MS is a board certified physician in internal medicine and gastroenterology. He treats all diseases of the digestive tract, pancreas and liver. He has advanced training in therapeutic/interventional endoscopy. He completed both his internal medicine residency and gastroenterology fellowship at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia. He then completed an additional year of training in Advanced/Interventional Endoscopy at Temple University Hospital to gain expertise in all aspects of therapeutic endoscopy. He has also served as a faculty member at Temple University Hospital.

 

Dr. Makipour has presented numerous abstracts at national meetings and authored several manuscripts. He has been involved with clinical research in the areas of colon cancer screening, gastroesophageal reflux disease, helicobacter pylori, constipation, fecal incontinence, dyssynergic defecation, small bowel bacterial overgrowth, utility of EUS/ERCP in gallstone pancreatitis, obscure gastrointestinal bleeding, and use of deep balloon enteroscopy. Dr. Makipour is also an expert in colonoscopy to diagnose and prevent colon cancer.

 

Dr. Makipour obtained his undergraduate education at the University of Virginia, followed by a Master’s Degree in Human Physiology from Georgetown University. He then obtained his medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School.

 

Dr. Makipour is a member of the American Gastroenterological Association and the American College of Gastroenterology.

 

Dr. Makipour was selected as a Northern Virginia Magazine Top Doctor in 2015-2016 and 2016-2017, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024. He was also a Washingtonian Magazine Top Doctor in 2019, 2022 and 2023.
