Primary Biliary Cholangitis or PBC is a chronic cholestatic liver disease. PBC is an autoimmune disease that targets biliary epithelial cells and can progress to cirrhosis if not treated with medications. The most commonly accepted therapy is ursodeoxycholic acid or UDCA. Obeticholic acid is also currently approved but very costly. Other potential therapies on the horizon are statin and fibrates though data for their use is currently limited.
