Acid reflux and hiatal hernia

A hiatal hernia occurs when part of the stomach bulges up into the chest due to a loosening of the diaphragm and can result in acid reflux, heartburn, regurgitation, difficulty swallowing, chest pain, abdominal pain or gastrointestinal bleeding. You may need an endoscopy if you suffer from some of these symptoms.
